Rincon Family Services (RFS), formally known as El Rincon Community Clinic is dedicated to rendering compassionate and effective programs that promote the quality of life by serving as a catalyst to advocate, educate and empower individuals and their families. Focused in the Humboldt Park, Austin, Logan Square, Avondale, Hermosa and Belmont-Cragin neighborhoods of Chicago with a special emphasis on low-income Latino and African-American families, RFS strives to enhance the health and well being of families and significant others in our communities.
Started by the church, community and ex-gang leaders in 1972 to combat the epidemic use of heroin and violence, El Rincon Community Clinic has been an oasis of hope for an under-served Latino Community in Chicago: the narcotic addict. Since its establishment in 1972, RFS has provided comprehensive Opioid Maintenance Therapy (OMT) and other substance abuse treatments with supportive services to clients and their families. Within the last fiscal year, RFS has expanded its mission from an individual substance abuse approach to serve the entire family through mental and physical health promotion programs.
